Project PREP is an intensive nursing education program designed to build capacities in nursing educators and ensure competencies and preparedness among 23 recent graduates in Pinion Haiti. This program was a 2 week long immersion used evidence based curriculum, technology solutions and simulation teaching-learning to strengthen the capacity of nurses in practical skill-based care, ethics, and professional nursing, as well as to improve preparedness for state certification In Haiti. At the end of this two-week intensive the participants objectives were to:
Synthesize knowledge related to professionalism in nursing care, Understand the importance of licensure and certification in the nursing profession, Apply therapeutic communication skills to effectively care for patients across the lifespan.
A mixed method approach with qualitative and quantitative design was used in this study. This project showed improvement in knowledge and competencies of experienced nurses and new graduates entering the nursing workforce.
